Moorebank Sports Club recently hosted its second Future Focus Youth Careers Expo, bringing together local students, jobseekers, employers, training providers and community organisations to help young people explore their future education and career pathways.
Held on Wednesday, 5 August, the event welcomed almost 350 students from Holsworthy High School, Moorebank High School and Liverpool Boys High School, before opening its doors in the afternoon to students, parents and community members from across our local area.
We had a large variety of organisations and businesses represented in the club’s auditorium, students had the opportunity to speak directly with people working across a diverse range of industries. From apprenticeships and trades to higher education, healthcare, government services and community organisations, Future Focus showcased the many different pathways available to young people as they consider their next steps.
The event was designed to provide a diversity of students with valuable career information, and opened up opportunities to have real conversations, ask questions and gain insight from experts in a variety of fields they may be considering.

A special thank you goes to John Hennessy, who provided coffee and gave aspiring baristas the opportunity to experience the fast-paced world of coffee making firsthand. The three Holsowrthy High students did an excellent job and should be commended for their hard work.
We were also pleased to welcome Federal Member David Moncrieff, who took the time to attend the event and speak with local students, organisations and community members. We appreciate his support of our event and this important initiative.
Our thanks also go to our Bob Fleeton Scholarship recipients, Zoe Georgalis and Lucas Azzopardi, who generously volunteered their time throughout the day to answer questions, share their experiences and provide advice to students interested in applying for the scholarship. Applications for the next scholarship round are now open, providing another opportunity for local young people to pursue their education and career aspirations.
Future Focus is proud to play a role in connecting young people with the people, organisations and opportunities that can help shape their future. We look forward to continuing to grow the event and create meaningful connections within our local community.
