Food Aid for Local Families

Sporties has enjoyed a long and very positive partnership with Georges River Life Care, a community organisation based in Peakhurst which provides domestic violence support and emergency relief to vulnerable families.

Every fortnight, GRLC hosts Community Connect events at Moorebank High School, providing hampers packed with pantry staples including pasta, pasta sauce, and long-life milk, to families in need. And every Christmas, it provides food hampers for local families doing it tough during the festive season.

GRLC also runs a school-ready backpack initiative to ensure every primary and high school student has everything they need to start the new school year. These include a pencil case, stationary, highlighters, and a packet of lollies as a special treat!

Sporties supported GRLC again this year by donating 139 backpacks for local kids and by acting as a drop-off point for local community members who have also taken part. Our staff also took the time to pack each of the bags so they were school-ready for the recipients.

Special shout-out and thank you to our wonderful partner – Freedom Fitness – which supplied the contents for more than 30 of our backpacks.

And in late December, several Sporties employees attended the GRLC Christmas Party to assist with the event and do some face-painting for the kids. Indulge Brasserie also supplied two large trays of salad for the day.
