Sporties Staff Sleep Rough to Support Those Facing Homelessness

On 26 June, a team of Moorebank Sports Club’s staff took part in the ‘Sleeping Rough’ fundraising event in support of Georges River Life Care, spending a night outdoors to raise awareness and vital funds for people experiencing homelessness.

Nine staff members swapped the comfort of their own beds for a cold concrete carpark in Riverwood, experiencing just a small glimpse of the hardship that many people facing homelessness endure every day. Despite the wet weather and very chilly conditions, the team described the experience as both meaningful and humbling.

The night served as a powerful reminder that, for us, sleeping rough was a choice for one evening. For many others, it is an ongoing reality. It reinforced the importance of supporting organisations that provide practical assistance and hope to those doing it tough.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our members, staff, family and friends, Team Sporties raised $3,425. A special congratulations goes to Jess B, our highest individual fundraiser, who raised an incredible $650 through the support of her donors.

Collectively, this year’s event raised over $56,000 to help Georges River Life Care continue its important work supporting people in our local community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, shared our fundraising page, or offered words of encouragement. Your support has made a genuine difference.

If you would still like to contribute, donations remain open and every dollar helps.

We are incredibly proud of our team’s efforts and look forward to supporting this important initiative again next year.
